Learning Programs · Course design & cohorts

Your expertise. A course worth taking.

We design workshops, cohort courses and self-paced learning with you, built around practice and feedback on real work, then hand over materials your team can keep using.

Course Modules
  • Introduction
  • Core Concepts
  • Applied Practice

A course and a cohort, designed as one program.

A Learning Program turns what your experts know into something people can work through: short lessons, live sessions where they practice, and feedback on their actual work.

  • Audience and task

Who the program is for and the real task they need to perform afterwards, agreed before anything is built.

  • Source expertise

Your experts’ material, recordings and judgment, reviewed and approved by them. Nothing is invented to fill gaps.

  • Workshops, cohorts and self-paced

Live workshops, a guided cohort, self-paced lessons or a mix, chosen for the audience and the time they have.

  • Practice and feedback

Scenario questions, practice tasks and project submissions, with feedback from experts or facilitators people can act on.

  • Your LMS or existing tools

Delivered in your LMS, your collaboration tools or a course platform you already use. No dedicated equipment is needed.

  • Authoring, maintenance and handover

Who edits the program, how it is updated when the work changes, and what your team receives at handover, agreed in scope.

Available on its own. You do not need a Knowledge Station or a community to buy a program. Course design pricing below is unchanged and independent of any station package.

How we work together

A three-phase process to turn your raw materials into an engaging, effective online learning experience.

For independent experts creating their own courses and subject-matter experts building learning inside organizations.

Phase 1: Plan
1

Blueprint and Strategy

We map out the learning journey before building, ensuring every module aligns with your ultimate outcomes.

Deliverables

  • Review of source materials and existing content
  • Learner profile definition
  • Course blueprint and outcomes mapping
  • Comprehensive content strategy

Harbor Seminary

The Challenge

Lengthy, traditional academic lectures needed to be adapted into modular, engaging online certificates for diverse remote learners.

Our Approach

We restructured the monolithic lectures into short, focused segments, interleaving them with required readings and structured discussion formats to maintain rigor while improving accessibility.

Outcome

A modular, scalable blueprint ready for varied learner profiles, enabling flexible certificate pathways.

Phase 2: Design
2

Prototyping the Experience

We create the visual and interactive standards, validating them with real users before full-scale production.

Deliverables

  • Development of 2–3 sample lessons
  • Learner community engagement strategy
  • Teacher and facilitator onboarding guide
  • Pilot testing and refinement

Northstar Leadership Studio

The Challenge

Deep, research-backed leadership methodologies needed to feel personal and interactive, rather than like passive reading assignments.

Our Approach

We designed a highly personal lesson format featuring direct researcher video introductions, paired immediately with reflective, contextual exercises.

Outcome

A validated, repeatable lesson format with clear community interaction guidelines that drive behavioral change.

Phase 3: Build
3

Production and Assembly

We build out the entire course, integrating media, assessments, and interactions into a cohesive whole.

Deliverables

  • Creation of projects, assessments, and discussions
  • Interviews and media capture with subject experts
  • Assembly of interactive lessons
  • Review checkpoints and launch strategy

First Chapter Literacy

The Challenge

A recurring need to convert dense literacy research PDFs into engaging, active courses for busy educators.

Our Approach

We built a streamlined production assembly line, turning static documents into active discussion prompts, scenario-based knowledge checks, and applied activities.

Outcome

A scalable course build system resulting in launch-ready interactive modules delivered consistently on schedule.

Course Design Principles

A few heuristics we use when translating raw expertise into learning.

Start with the end behavior

Don't outline content first. Define what learners must do differently when the course ends, then build backward.

Design for the context

A manager taking a course on their phone during a commute needs a fundamentally different architecture than a dedicated student at a desk.

Practice over consumption

Watching a video isn't learning. Forcing learners to make a choice, defend it, and experience the consequence is where capability is built.

What happens next

DBX reviews your materials and goals. We’ll clarify your learners and course scope, then discuss the right approach and a custom quote. A brief description is enough to start.
